How to Clean a Meat Grinders

FL MACHINE has fully considered the convenience of cleaning in the design of the meat grinding machine, bringing great convenience to users. Its structure is reasonably designed, and most of the key components in contact with meat are easy to disassemble and install. This makes deep cleaning easy and simple, effectively reducing the time and energy invested in cleaning.

Cleaning steps

1. Cut off the power supply: Before starting the cleaning, be sure to unplug the meat grinder's power plug from the socket. This is a crucial step to ensure personal safety and can effectively prevent accidental injury caused by the machine starting due to misoperation during the cleaning process.

2. Disassemble components: The design of the meat grinder makes component disassembly very simple. First, easily remove the meat - loading hopper, which can usually be separated by simple plug-in, pulling or rotating the buckle. Then, unscrew the screws and take out the grinding plate that comes into direct contact with the meat and the sharp blade. If there is a spiral rod (i.e., auger) that pushes the meat pieces, remove it as well. The quick-disassembly design of these components greatly shortens the preparation time before cleaning.

Initial rinsing: You can start with a preliminary rinse using warm water. You can mix in some dish soap if you want a more thorough and cleaner wash. This can effectively soften the dried-on meat scraps and grease on the components, reducing the burden of subsequent cleaning work.

3. Meticulous scrubbing: Use a nylon brush with soft bristles to carefully scrub each component. For the blade, be especially careful to scrub both sides to ensure that all attached meat residues are removed. At the same time, use a long-handled brush to reach deep into the inside of the hopper and the body of the meat grinder, and carefully clean every corner, especially the connecting parts of the components, where meat scraps and grease tend to remain. Due to the relatively smooth and flat surface design of the meat grinder, without too many complex grooves and crevices, it is easy to cover all parts during the scrubbing process, greatly improving the cleaning efficiency.

4. Thorough rinsing: After scrubbing, rinse all components thoroughly under running warm water to ensure that all dish soap and loosened residues are removed. Carefully check if there are any remaining meat scraps or grease. If found, repeat the scrubbing and rinsing steps.

5. Drying treatment: Dry the moisture on the surface of the machine with a hair dryer or a clean rag. FL MACHINE selects 304 stainless steel as the material of the meat grinder, which has excellent rust-proof performance. However, it is still necessary to dry the moisture in a timely manner, which can further extend the service life of the equipment.

6. Component assembly: After all components are completely dry, reassemble them back into the meat grinder in the reverse order. First, install the auger, then the grinding plate and the blade, ensuring they are firmly fixed. Finally, install the hopper. Before reconnecting the power and using it, carefully check whether all components are installed correctly.

Required tools

Nylon brush with soft bristles: It is used to gently scrub components. It can effectively remove dirt without scratching the surface of the equipment.
Long - handled brush: It is convenient for reaching deep into the inside of the meat grinder and the hopper to clean the hard - to - reach corners.
Air dryer: It is used to blow dry the moisture on the surface and inside of the machine. However, if there is no air dryer, a dry rag can be used instead.
Clean dry cloth or paper towel: It is used to dry the components after cleaning.
Warm water: Used in conjunction with dish soap, it helps to soften dirt.
A small amount of mild dish soap: It helps to remove stubborn grease and meat scraps.

Precautions

Cleaning frequency: It is recommended to clean the meat grinder immediately after each use. This can prevent meat scraps from drying and hardening, reducing the difficulty of cleaning. If the usage frequency is high, conduct a comprehensive deep cleaning at least once a week, including complete disassembly and cleaning. Avoid using sharp or rough cleaning tools such as steel wool, as they may scratch the equipment surface, creating fine scratches and providing a breeding ground for bacteria.

When disassembling and installing the blade, be extremely careful to avoid cutting your fingers. If you are unsure about the disassembly or installation of certain components, refer to the equipment's instruction manual.

Ensure that during the cleaning process, water does not enter the motor or other electrical components to prevent short circuits or damage to the equipment. If water accidentally splashes in, stop cleaning immediately, place the equipment in a well-ventilated area to dry, and resume subsequent operations only after ensuring safety.

Common cleaning mistakes and avoidance methods

Cleaning without cutting off the power: Failing to unplug the power plug during cleaning is an extremely dangerous behavior. It may lead to electric shock or cause injury due to the sudden startup of the machine. The way to avoid this is to get into the habit of unplugging the power plug before cleaning. During the cleaning process, make sure the plug is kept away from water sources to prevent accidental energization.

Using inappropriate cleaning agents: Using cleaning agents containing strong acidic or alkaline components may corrode the metal parts of the meat grinder, especially those made of food - grade stainless steel, affecting the service life of the equipment and food safety. Mild dishwashing liquid should always be used, and corrosive chemical cleaning agents should be avoided. When purchasing cleaning agents, carefully check the ingredient list to confirm that it is suitable for food processing equipment.

Incomplete cleaning: Some people may just simply rinse the surface during cleaning, ignoring the gaps, corners, and internal structures of the components. Meat scraps and grease tend to remain in these areas, and over time, they can generate odors and bacteria. To avoid this, it is necessary to strictly follow the cleaning steps and carefully scrub each component. Especially for parts that are prone to getting dirty, use a long-handled brush or small cleaning tools for deep cleaning.

Failure to dry components promptly: If the components are not dried promptly after cleaning, the metal parts of the meat grinder, especially the blades and grinding plates, are likely to rust. Rust not only affects the performance of the equipment but may also cause food safety issues. After cleaning, all components should be immediately dried with a clean dry cloth or paper towel. Components can also be placed in a well-ventilated area to air-dry, but ensure they are completely dry before reassembly.

Incorrect assembly method: During reassembly, if the components are not installed correctly, it may cause abnormal operation of the equipment or even damage the equipment. For example, if the blade is not firmly installed, it may loosen and fly out during operation, posing a danger. Before assembly, carefully read the equipment's instruction manual to understand the correct assembly sequence and method. If you are unsure, you can refer to the disassembly sequence or consult the manufacturer's customer service.
